Vegetarian?

Since Muslims (Look, I'm not violating racial issues over here, so ISA.... please don't get yourself involve in this if you see this yea?) are all around us, other races tend to make jokes and poke some fun into their eyes by lashing out food issues such as pork and alcohol.

Lately, I hanged out with my colleagues for a luncheon, a somewhat... err... unusual luncheon, at least for me. We went into a vegetarian restaurant. Throughout the dining moments, we were discussing halal and non-halal issues.

Well, yes, Muslims are forbidden to consume certain foods and beverages, and what about those self-proclaimed vegetarians? (Once again, I'm not pointing fingers at all the vegetarians... No hard feelings yea?)

What I'm trying to say is, why does vegetarian-char siew exist? Why is there vegetarian-siew ngor present within the vegetarian community? Why do they imitate prawns by making molds out of flour? Why?? Why are they mimicking meats in the first place?

Aren't they, too forbidden to consume pork (meat) like Muslims do? But they are making it as though it tastes like the real meat, why are they doing this? Can anyone tell me?

Are they trying hard to impress others who are not vegetarian, so that they could earn additional income (these vegetarian dishes are wayyyy more expensive than the original meat)? Or are they simply could not resist the temptation of the flavor of meat?
